Hello fellow CSUSB Advisors,
Thank you to everyone who completed New Advisors Group
survey. We had a 92% completion rate! What does that mean? We can
do the opportunity drawing for the picture frame! Click the link below

A few updates based off the survey:
- · Career Center workshop: There was overwhelmingly positive feedback from you all regarding the most recent workshop.
o Your
feedback has been shared with the Career Center. Sarai and Angie have responded
back that your comments were valuable and will help with future workshops.
o Speaking
of future workshops, we will be reaching out the Career Center for a possible
professional development workshop in either October of November. Since time was
a factor in the last workshop, we will try to have one topic per workshop.
Hopefully the next one we have will be regarding resumes.
- · Many of you indicated wanting to more advising articles. With the NACADA conference coming up, there is a Common Reading they will be discussing, “Toward a Theory of Advising” by Marc Lowenstein. Even if you are not attending the conference next month, it’s still a great read. Here it is, http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Portals/0/annualconf/2016/Documents/Common%20Reading%20Article.pdf
- · Advising Library: There was a comment about not knowing there was an advising library. Yes, we do have a “mini” academic advising library. It is relatively new (since August). The library is housed in Advising and Academic Services, UH-380. There are various resources from advising and career texts, pocketbooks, DVDs, and teaching materials. Stop on by and take a look.
- · Meeting notes and updates are posted on Blogger under “CSUSB New Advisors Group”, http://csusbadvisors.blogspot.com
- · Patricia’s Monday Motivational images are posted on the CSUSB_Advisors Instagram account. If there are any posts, pictures, events, ideas, etc. you have, let me know.
- · A doodle will be sent out by the end of the day for your availability next month for scheduling October’s meeting and maybe a professional development workshop.
Take care,
Matt
